ABOUT ANNUAL CONNECTION AND CONNEXIS
Annual Connection is a unique three day event, bringing together cable jointers, line mechanics and industry stakeholders from across New Zealand. The event consists of competitions, a supplier's expo, and closes with the Connexis Excellence Awards.
Annual Connection is managed by Connexis, supported by a group of industry professionals. This event has been running in New Zealand for over 20 years.
Connexis works with industry to upskill the Infrastructure workforce for the Civil, Energy, Telecommunications, and Water sectors.
Connexis programmes are nationally recognised by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) and are mostly delivered through on-job training with options for campus and online learning.
Our team arrange, deliver, support, and assess on-job learning for New Zealand’s Infrastructure industry.

This annual three day event provides line mechanics and cable jointers from across New Zealand with a unique platform to test their skills, all under the watchful eyes of experienced judges.
We believe this competition serves as an invaluable opportunity to spotlight our industry, underscore the importance of electricity safety, and encourage young talents to explore careers in the electricity supply sector.



Paul Godfrey has over 40 years of experience in the Electricity Supply Industry, with a background as a Cable Jointer, registered Line Mechanic, and Electrical Service Technician. He is currently the Technical Manager – Cable Accessories at Transnet NZ Ltd, where he oversees sales, training, and after‑sales support, delivering a complete wrap‑around service to customers across the industry.
As an Annual Connection Committee Member and Cable Jointer Judge, Paul works closely with competition managers to support the planning and delivery of the event. Involved with Annual Connection for 18 years, including 16 years as Cable Jointer Competition Manager, Paul continues to support the event to help maintain high standards of workmanship and to contribute to an industry he is passionate about.
Richard Inglis brings nearly 40 years of experience in the Electricity Supply Industry, having started his career in 1986 and progressing through field, leadership, project management, and training roles. He is currently the Field Assessment Manager at Vector Limited, where he leads the assessing team, supporting competency and standards across the industry.
As Logistics Manager on the Annual Connection Committee, Richard is responsible for coordinating event logistics, sourcing materials, arena setup and pack‑down, and supporting competition programming. Involved with Annual Connection since 2004, he continues to support the event as a way to give back to the industry and to help bring electricity supply companies together to showcase skills, equipment, and best practice.
